Sgt. William Walker Hartgrove of Company E, enlisted in 1862 and was surrendered at Appomatox on 9 Apr 1865. He was wounded 3 times.His brother, Richard D.S. Hartgrove also served in Company E. He died at Pt. Lookout POW Camp after being captured at Gettysburg. He was also wounded 3 times.
The 12th NC Infantry, CSA was originally part of
Stonewall Jackson's command.They served in his Shenandoah
valley campaign. The 12th was later part of Garland/Iverson's
Brigade (Johnston's), in D. H. Hill/Rodes' Division
(Early/Ramseur):

Alfred Black served in Company M. He enlisted 1 May 1861 and was discharged due to disability 20 Jan 1862.Ephraim Black enlisted 1 May 1861 in Company M also. He was killed at Gettysburg 1 Jul 1863.
Michael Luther Beam enlisted in Company M on 17 May 1862. He was wounded at Mechanicsville in the right chest.

Eli Sellers enlisted in Company C on 20 Sep 1864 at age 45. He was discharged due to chronic rheumatism 5 Mar 1865.Abraham Sellers of Company D enlisted 2 Mar 1863. He was wounded once and died of typhoid 29 Sep 1864
George Sellers enlisted in Company D on 2 Mar 1863. He died of heat exhaustion on 22 Jul 1864.
Sgt. William Sellers enlisted in Company D on 2 Mar 1863. He was taken prisoner at Gettysburg and confined at Point Lookout, MD.
Cpl. Oliver Pryor Byrd enlisted 6 Oct 1861 in Co. H. He was wounded twice, promoted once, and demoted twice. He was surrendered at Appomatox.
Matthew Black also enlisted in Company H on 1 Aug 1863. He was surrendered at Appomatox.
Thomas Black enlisted in Company H on 12 Aug 1863. He was wounded twice and surrendered at Appomatox
Benaja Black enlisted in Company H on 13 Dec 1864.
John Tillman Beam served in Company I. He enlisted 15 Aug 1862 and on 12 Dec 1862 was discharged due to "caries of right tibia", whatever that is.

Union Forces
The 70th Ohio Infantry, USA of 3rd Brigade (mostly),William Draper enlisted in Company A 16 Oct 1861. He was a prisoner of war at some point during the war. He was mustered out 10 Jun 1865.
171st Ohio Infantry of the Ohio National Guard
Andrew Anson Green enlisted in the 171st Ohio Infantry in May of 1864. The 171st was part of the National Guard during the Civil War, and fought in one battle at Kellar's Bridge, KY. The whole regiment was captured by Confederate forces there on June 11th 1864, and then paroled. Before and after this battle, the regiment was on fatigue and guard duty at Johnson's Island, a Union camp for Confederate prisoners of war. Anson was discharged in August 1864.

Florence George Scannell enlisted in Company B 15 Feb 1865. He was mustered out 21 Jun 1865.
