| He appears in the DAR Patriot Index as a
soldier, though he may only have fought in one battle, the
Battle of King's Mountain.10 The legend has it that he
and his sons William (home on leave) and John (age 16) all
participated in this battle which was only a couple of
miles from their homestead. He was a weaver as well as a
farmer. |
