Notes for Mary Ann Prather
Mary Ann had her first child at 16 and another child every two years afterwards. The only exception was 1862 (when William was away at war), and then she had twins in 1864 to make up for it. By the way, the twins were conceived while William was on furlough after being wounded at Gettysburg. She was a single mom from 1862 - 1865 except when he was home wounded. No wonder she died shortly after giving birth to Francis in 1876.
