of her son53.
She lived with her father until after 1870, and was the
only child still living with him then44, (Cherryville Twp) page 27,
dwelling 200, family 200. She went to live with
her brother-in-law Elsey Black in 1880, after his wife died in
childbirth. Not counting the baby who died a few days after
its mother, there were eight children to look after,
ranging in age from 2 up to 12. On the 1880 census, she is
listed as his sister-in-law, keeping house48.
She apparently lived with Elsey for the rest of her
