During the 1930s Worth's older brother Ernest financed the building of a roadhouse for Worth to run. They called it the Red Door. Gaston County was dry at the time, so he sold beer from the back room. They also had slot machines and sold "punch-out" boards (similar to lottery cards). He was not a great money manager and it finally went broke.405
