Notes for Martha Emma Zorado Brown

She had a stillborn twin. She and her older sister Clemmie never married but lived together with their nephew Bill Brown until their deaths. In 1899 their brother Brethy's wife died and they took in his two children, Herschel, 6 yrs old and Mabel, 9 months. In 1907 their brother Willie's wife died from childbirth complications. They raised Aubra, aged 13, Byron, 11, Bob, 7, and Bill at ten days old. Bill lived with Clemmie and Emma until his death at age 56. Emma did more of the housework and cooking while Clemmie and Bill tended to things outside.
