| He was known as "Big John". At the time of the 1850 census, he had living with him four young people (aged 11 to 20) who were probably grandchildren, as they seemed too young to be the children of he and his 60-year-old wife. He was 61 at the time. Also in his household was his widowed mother, Barbara, age 89.43, dwelling 268, family 249 (microfilm page 408) He was listed as a farmer, worth $1100. |
