| Notes for Ruth Echols | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| In 1796, a few months after the death of
her husband Moses, Ruth set free the slaves that he had
left her in his will.443 (I believe the will
had to clear probate before she could act.) Here they are
listed in apparent family groups:444 Cyrus King, a negro man, his age unknown; Hagar King, a negro woman age about 40 years old; Isaac King, a negro man, age 21 years old next July; Alle King, a negro girl, age 17 years old; Abrian King, a negro boy, age 12 years old; Sarah King, a negro girl, ten years old; Tobitha King, a negro girl, age 8 years old; Edith King, a negro girl, age 6 years old; Milinda King, a negro girl, 4 years old; Moses Hampton, a negro man, age 46 years old; Esther Robinson, a negro woman, age 23 years old; John Robinson, a negro boy, age two years old. |
